Get out and enjoy your weekend. We hope that your plans are exciting and that you make a tons of great memories. We suggest joining in on one of the many fun runs taking place this weekend. Here is your Daily Dose brought to you by the Laramie Area Chamber of Commerce

1. Week of the Young Child Celebration9:00 AM – 11:00 AM A community wide event will be held in celebration of Week of the Young Child™.  This is an opportunity for families with young children to come learn more about Laramie Early Childhood Professionals and businesses while participating in fun-filled activities.  This event will be held at the Laramie Civic Center in the south gym on April 20th, from 9-11 a.m. Week of the Young Child™, sponsored by the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC), is an opportunity for early childhood programs across the country, including child care and Head Start programs, preschools, and elementary schools, to hold activities to bring awareness to the needs of young children.  

2. FACE AIDS/Wyoaids 5k.  This year FACE AIDS will be hosting their annual WYOAIDS walk as a 5K run. It will be located at Optimist Park in West Laramie from 8 AM-12 PM and the run will take place along the Greenbelt!

3. Run Josh Run. Run Josh Run is a fundraising event for Engineers Without Borders held on April 20th-21st from 10 a.m.-10 a.m.

Individuals walkers/runners are asked to solicit monetary sponsorships corresponding to the number of laps they run. Single-amount donations are gladly accepted as well. People can also ask to have EWB’s designated runner sponsored on a per lap basis. The EWB runner will be attempting to run 100 miles (400 laps) in a 24-hour period. We also encourage individuals to support our walkers/runners even if they do not have sponsorships. Individual registration before the event can be done online, costs $20, and includes a T-shirt. Individual registration on the day of the event is free and event T-shirts will be available for $20. Lap counters will be provided by EWB-WYO.

This year’s run will also include a team competition. Teams will have an opportunity to compete for awards for most laps run and most funds raised during the 24-hour event. Here are the guidelines for teams:

-Teams can consist of up to 6 members and must have at least 2 members.
-An individual may only be on one team.
-An organization may register an unlimited amount of teams.
-Laps will be counted by EWB-WYO members.
-Team entry will be $20 and includes lap counters and refreshments.
-The team registration fee does not include T-shirts. Event T-shirts will be available for $15 per person.
