Happy May Day 2013

Stay warm today as our nice “Spring” weather has disappeared into the cold snow from last night at this morning. Cross your fingers for warmer weather as the week continues and remember that it is May Day! Here is your Daily Dose brought to you by the Laramie Area Chamber of Commerce.

1. Celebrate May with a little Music. The Student Activities Council will be hosting the musical ensemble Air Dubai to perform tonight at 8 p.m. in the Union Ballroom.

Denver natives Air Dubai history dates back to 2008, where high school friends singer Jon Shockness and rapper Julian Thomas began their collaboration as a hip-hop duo. Infusing their diverse musical talents, the band features a mix of hip-hop, soul, pop, rock, and electronic. Currently, the band has two official releases 2010’s “Wonder Age” and 2011’s “Day Escape.”

2. Shantel Leitner at Coal Creek Coffee Company. On May 1st, 2013 Shantel Leitner will be performing live at the Coal Creek Coffee Company in Laramie, WY. Show will start at 8 pm.

No cover; Click the link below for more information and to listen to Shantel’s latest record, ‘Indigo’: https://www.facebook.com/shantelleitnermusic
Shantel Leitner is a soulful Midwesterner brought up on the plains of a small, idyllic town in Kansas. She began singing at a small age, following in the foot steps of her grandfather, mother, & aunt who comprised a family country/western band. Shantel shows an affinity for a soul sensibility that melds itself with a pop/folk likability. Where there is musical sincerity, Shantel finds the most truth & hungers to connect with the listener. Shantel’s style could best be described as pop/folk infused with a bit of soul as her voice floats above her guitar, harkening a raw quality reminiscent of an old blues record.
