Nestled deep within the streets of Laramie, there is a hidden gem of a BBQ restaurant called Boomer’s BBQ. Boomer’s BBQ is located downtown on 2nd st. and 600 south, just a little further past the hustle and bustle of Grand Ave.
Boomer’s BBQ has been in business for two years now, and is co-owned by Mike Sharum and Michele McInerney. The restaurant is open 11 a.m.-9 p.m. every day except for Tuesday. Tuesday is Sharum and McInerney’s designated day-off, and the restaurant is closed.
As a designated BBQ place, Boomer’s BBQ is famous for their barbecued ribs, and pulled pork. They are also famous for their homemade, brewed iced tea. In fact, practically everything served at Boomer’s BBQ is homemade from scratch. Much of their menu is also allergy friendly and gluten-free friendly. All of their meat sauces, BBQ sauces and salad dressings are gluten free.
McInerney raves over their homemade desserts, especially their famous signature dessert, their bread pudding. Their bread pudding is made with their own special Koltiska sauce; a spiced liqueur made in Sheridan, Wyoming. “A man traveling through from Denver stops in just for our bread pudding,” exclaimed McInerney.
Sharum and McInerney’s goal with all of their homemade food is to be “like grandma’s cooking… good, home-cooked food” said Sharum. “I want people to say “‘This coleslaw reminds me of what my grandma used to make”‘ when they eat our food,” commented Sharum.
So what more does Boomer’s BBQ have to offer than their home-cooked food?
Well as Sharum says, “We have a wide variety of beer, for a mom and pop place”.
Boomer’s BBQ has a Beer of the Month Club. They feature a different beer every month, and if you come in to buy that beer of the month once every month, at the end of the year you win a free Crap Boomer Says T-shirt! Now these T-shirts are no ordinary T-shirts. Printed on the T-shirts are random funny sayings Sharum has said, which they deem T-shirt worthy. Check’em out. They are pretty funny. On a side note, if you want to win one of their awesome T-shirts and happen to miss a beer of the month, they do offer make-up days to come in and buy a beer and get you back on track to get that T-shirt.
Yet another great aspect of Boomer’s BBQ is they do all business locally. They like to use Wyoming products and support local businesses in Laramie or Wyoming as much as they can. Anything they don’t make homemade, they prefer to buy from places as local as possible. Boomer’s BBQ truly is a home-town, locally owned business who strives to help other local business as well, so come down and try Boomer’s BBQ today! I did, and I sure am glad. I will return soon for sure for more BBQ and their next beer of the month!
